YOU WANT TO KNOW ABOUT SNOWSTAR |
Welcome to Wisconsin's oldest and largest ski and snowboard
school for young people, Snowstar Snow Sports School. The
club was started in 1962 and is now the largest program of
its kind in the state. In our program, members make new friends,
learn proper ski & snowboarding skills, and participate
in a sport they can enjoy for the rest of their lives. Our
aim is to provide fun-filled days and memorable experiences.

WHY JOIN
A SKI OR SNOWBOARD SCHOOL?
If you are going to ski or snowboard do it right! Like
most activities, skiing or boarding is learned best when it is learned
right. You progress faster, it's easier, it's safer and you don't
pick up bad habits. SNOWSTAR members
will have the best instruction available from our own qualified
professionally trained ski & snowboard instructors.
WHO CAN JOIN?
The club is open to young people ages 7 thru 18. The SNOWSTAR
SNOW SPORTS SCHOOL presents a well-rounded teaching and recreational
program stressing SAFETY, FUN and LEARNING.
HOW DOES IT WORK?
The program consists of weekly one day, Saturday or Sunday, trips
to various local ski areas complete with transportation, lessons
and supervision. Members may choose either the Saturday program
or the Sunday program. They have the option of switching days, just
make your reservation for the date you wish to attend.
After completing a membership application and paying the annual
Tuition Fee, members receive monthly pre-season
newsletters along with ski shop discount coupons and information
about sales and specials.
Starting in November, members receive a membership packet which
includes an electronic Membership Manual (on our website), ID card,
Equipment ID Stickers and more.
TRIP RESERVATIONS POLICY
All trip space is reserved and paid in advance on our website. You
can sign up and pay for as many trips as you like. You can also
pay as far in advance as you like and up until Thursday at midnight
before a trip.
Please keep in mind that we cannot refund the entire amount of trip
fees if canceled after the Thursday night deadline. We will refund
all except the bus fees if the trip is run. If we
cancel a trip due to inclement weather, we will refund the entire
amount.
We have a form on our website for you to fill out in the event your
member cannot make it on a trip you have already signed up and paid
for. The form must be filled out before the trip is run to receive
a refund. We will not refund if the form is filled out after the
trip is run.
THE SNOWSTAR PROGRAM OFFERS
- Professional ski and snowboard instruction on
all
Saturday and Sunday regular teaching trips. See the Trip
Calendar for non-teaching trips.
- Regular members receive a 1-1/2 hour lesson
on each teaching trip. Beginning skiers and snowboarders remain
in lessons for all 3 class periods on each trip until specific
skills are mastered.
- Guest days
- Weekend Family Trip to Indianhead Mountain.
- Week Long Spring Western Family trip
- Junior instructor training
- Individualized special instruction
- Lessons for parents.
INSTRUCTION
Instruction is provided by SNOWSTAR'S
professionally trained ski and snowboard instructors. Classes range
from beginner to expert and members progress to more advanced classes
as their skills improve. Classes are limited to 6 to 8 students
per instructor. Beginner students will remain
in lessons for all 3 class periods on each trip until they
show that they are able to achieve the next skill level.
TRANSPORTATION
Transportation is by chartered school buses to Sunburst and Little
Switzerland and by chartered coach buses to Devil's Head and Cascade.
Buses pick up members at convenient pick-up locations around the
metro area in the morning and return them to the same spot that
evening. Bus schedules can be found here
and in your Membership Manual and do not change in time or place
throughout the season except for special trips as indicated. Pick
up locations may be added or deleted during the season as membership
warrants.

SUPERVISION
Each bus is manned by our instructors who travel with the bus and
are on duty at the ski area to lend a helping hand, maintain decorum
and assist, especially the beginners. The
SNOWSTAR Table is located in each ski
area's chalet. Any member that has a problem during the trip should
go to the supervisor in the chalet and assistance will be given
there.
WHAT DOES IT COST?
When you join you pay an annual Tuition Fee.
On each weekly trip you pay a trip fee.
